Greta’s parents, actor Svante Thunberg and opera singer Malena Ernman, are just an ordinary pair of parent-managers who want to save the planet. Query their motives, and you risk being accused of “climate denial”, or of bullying a vulnerable child with Asperger’s. But the Greta phenomenon has also involved green lobbyists, PR hustlers, eco-academics, and a think-tank founded by a wealthy ex-minister in Sweden’s Social Democratic government with links to the country’s energy companies.

Whatever Greta or her parents know or think, her eco-mob increases the likelihood of legislation and investment that will make colossal profits for people like Global Challenge, We Don’t Have Time and Sustainable Energy Angels. For Sweden’s energy titans, saving the planet means government contracts to print the green stuff. Green energy lobbyists use populist scare tactics and a children’s crusade to bypass elected representatives, but their goal is technocracy not democracy, profit not redistribution. Greta, a child of woke capitalism, is being used to ease the transition to green corporatism.

What’s interesting in how this unfolded is the etructure of how zlax built up an artificial misunderstanding when he juxtaposed CO2 as in fire extinguishers with CO2 as a heat-trapping gas while later admitting that the situations where unrelated. They were unrelated except for CO2 being involved as a substance, and zlax aligning their involvement in both cases to pretend that valence feature of CO2 as a fire extinguisher should carry over to valence feature of CO2 as heat-trappig gas over the matter of droughts and forest fires.

At the core of the manipulative argument is calling on cognitive biases that could have some value to characterize. I repelled the whole thing as a assault on physical intuition and number sense, as something devised for someone (and likely, by someones) without physics grounding, without the nearly-subconscious reflex analogous to type-checking in programming languages, that any natural science assertion of this form implicitly refers to numerical bounds comparisons… to comparing spherical cows, so to speak.

My wonder is that his intensity and the efforts he puts into it give an impression of sincerity, the expression and diversity of material give an impression of sophistication and competence, but then, fouls like that give an impression of… illustrating the french pun between “fake skeptic” and “septic pit”, or more exactly, illustrating why and how the former allows to expect the latter. The short summary is "partisan scientific intuition trolling".

I'll add that most damning in how you presented the argument, @ivan zlax, is the obvious precaution you took to only make sentences that were literally true in isolation, using precisely calculated amounts of vagueness that left the invited false inference implicit. This sheds strong doubt on the charitable notion you didn't know what you were doing, and is why I think "fake skeptic" is a warranted label.

It's true however that the record of my first blush reaction at the time before the alarming disclosure involved an ingredient relatable to the denialists' reactions. What really defeated any temptation of accusing alarmist manipulation, was not the message itself, but a global CW context that prevented sense to rally under that divergent banner.

As for Greta, she has roughly the age I was, 43 years back, when I was first told about the issue. Her involvement acts like a nucleation center in supercooled water or vapor. Of course it's straightforward for fake skeptics to cherry-pick (or straight make up) what's easiest to present (or fabricate) as shady in the attention she gets. And it's anyway not because some bad actors would be finger-pointed among those jumping in her bandwagon, that she wouldn't be genuine or right.

To me the issue appears to be a choice-point between a global response to the battering we are going to take in the direction of solidarity or in the direction of devolving into generalized conflict.

The best case I could make in favor of ivan's apparent posture (I am saying "apparent" because I am not 100% convinced he is genuine) would be to construe his stance as advocating for better solidarity with the already dispossessed who are mostly out of sight to privileged Westerners. However his single-mindedness with dissing any of our "progressive Westerner's" arguments suggests a purpose that's way less constructive/inclusive.

Addressing climate change will bring conflicts. There are tremendously powerful interests at stake. We simply cannot afford to be sensitive to every voice, as many are probably inauthentic, a distraction. The Common Good here is clear - the reduction of CO2 release.

I have repeatedly said earlier: you have exhausted your trust credit. In the world there are very few people who are able to sincerely believe in the words of the representatives of the West. There is no faith in the words of "progressive Westerners." You cannot show specific deeds. You are only agitating others again to believe your words and promises. Enough already, how much you can. It seems that colonialism, hypocrisy and deceit are so much in your habit that you cannot imagine any other ways for yourself.
I often talk on this topic lately. Not a single Westerner has expressed a desire to confirm his words with concrete deeds. Only bans, ignors, deleting of my messages ... looks like it is all you can do.

I think the 'global warming' and other 'liberal' power-grabs are more insidious than old fashioned capitalism. At least the capitalists are honest about wanting to steal your oil, coal, timber, land, etc.

The French for "fake skeptic" or "fake sceptic" (two variants of English) distributes into a masculine form and a feminine form.

The feminine form, "une fausse sceptique", puns with the standard translation of "septic pit" and "septic tank", "une fosse septique", which is also feminine.

This belongs to a special class of French puns that challenge to figure things out enough to know better in what sense what they suggest could verify.

More concretely, the above pun is like the question to figure out what agency or school or style of thinking could deserve simultaneously painting as "fake skeptic" and "septic pit". It invites to figure out a "why" to it, as a consequence or correlate of the "fake" in "fake skeptic".

The "septic pit" part of it, well, suggests toxic memes of some kind, perhaps even in Dawkin's original sense.

What can be a "fake skeptic"? Procedure towards answer is obvious.

First you collect cases of people displaying skepticism.

Then you review them for reason to call them fake.

Doing this soon leads to see that suspicious cases concentrate where there's a background political or ideological dipole, where there's polarization.

sofar I have only seen you taking time in producing consiracy theories that are actually helpfull for those profiting from it.

you know, currently we live in a capitalist society that uses extraction of other societies to make the most rich people even more rich, but also to easily give comfort to masses in higher classes. Basicly they use at least some sort of colonialism. This is the current order, and it's massivly contributing to the climatecrisis.

Then you have people criticising it, starting by the perspective of climatechange. What people that now newly rise up, are what indiginous people have been calling for since years. Stop extraction of the enviorment that is harming the future of those being effected by it.

But this idea of human made climate change is a conspiracy?

I would. Everything is simpler for me - if i see the wording or the sentence in which i see unacceptable theses for myself - i simply criticize it. As a rule, i consider the promotion of crypto-colonial privileges the most unacceptable. Surprisingly, it is the “progressive Westerners” (liberal-minded) who are actively engaged in this in the virtual space, and they are also more actively engaged in censorship than their right-wing counterparts “conservatives”. I am speaking directly with those and others, but i see it is precisely the liberal-minded Westerners who are much more ferocious in their censorship and intolerance to alternative points of view. And yet Western liberals are more hypocritical. Conservative-minded Westerners more often transmit myths trained by their parents - they just keep silent when they are refuted. Liberal-minded - they are very concerned about their virtual infallibility, they write complaints on me, delete my messages, block the possibility of commenting, directly insulted - called a stupid, a hater, and more.

By the way, many residents of the Western colonies are afraid to do so as me in virtual communication with Westerners, because their virtual communication is designed most often for an attempt to change their status, escape from their colony in order to become the same Westerner - therefore they usually curry favour with the rich and privileged "civilizers", count on their indulgence in the future making of the "green card and Schengen".

@tomgrz Indeed there's something at first blush inconvenient to the fact that the pun (and thus the implied demeaning accusation) is in the feminine.

However, there's a fun aspect to that. Revelation 17:5 admits reading in isolation of context, as some kind of algebraic equation to solve for the opaque variable name "Babylon", and when taking it that way it becomes a equivalent to a question that's in turn compatible with that posed by the French pun. Thanks to this compatibility, it's possible, without answering either question, to posit they share answer, while adjusting the vagueness or metaphorical flack of the questions to each other instead of adjusting it to some identified answer.

Do you have experience of logic programming, logical variables, and unification? ...a big ingredient of the compatibility of the questions, is that "Babylon" is a feminine figure in Revelation.

While you could say this only aggravates the spurious misogyny of the pun by conflating it with the blatant misogyny of the text of Revelation, this also means that justifying or mitigating this aspect of the pun can possibly be done by justifying or mitigating this aspect of the text of Revelation, in turn an unavoidable task if one is to make anything of that text. Other passages of the text allow to argue, IMO compellingly, that the misogyny of the wording of Revelation is an intentional ruse deployed to fool the eyes of misogynists dominating the scene.

I won't argue that here, but only address an objection that's likely to come to mind. French the language emerged many centuries after the text of Revelation was composed, is it not nonsense to read the text as alluding to a pun that's posterior to it? While it is possible to address that challenge by conjuring deconstructionism (a very French school of textual analysis) my answer is distinct and consists in arguing that the text was of the most influential of texts to impact the subconscious of the literate people in the population and centuries over which French emerged, in such a way that allusions can be expected -- but in the converse direction, not from the text to the language, but from spurs left on the language by the background of the text, back to the text.

Yes, it has become fashionable to say so in your privileged countries . But no one Westerner does not want to change this situation, in fact. You are ready to promote beautiful words "see how good we are, we say the TRUTH!", but when you are offered to do something concrete in the name of this truth, you resort to censorship and excuses, just to not lose your inherited privileges.

Very difficult. You can't do that. This requires will. My suggestion is to change your own lifestyle, and not to try to change someone else's lifestyle.
I have been in this topic for a long time, i have changed my lifestyle (not by buying products with the brand "eco" and signatures in defense of pandas, of course) for a long time. This daemon works for me consciously. I gave him access to the communication interface just about half year ago. Earlier, for many years this subprogram was developed unconsciously, for natural reasons, but the educated cultural barrier did not allow these developments to come out. Now i decided not to restrain this natural program, scince just i have the opportunity for it.

Это простой стальной 2V геодезический купол.

Благодаря Ричарду Бакминстеру Фуллеру подобные эргономичные конструкции может соорудить любой желающий, не обладающий каким-либо специализированным образованием. Не буду особенно останавливаться на теоретических аспектах и преимуществах такой конструкции, а сразу перейду к практической стороне.

Если вы решили соорудить геодезический купол, то в первую очередь вам надо определиться с его размерами (диаметром основания и высотой). Для этого используются формулы выведенные Бакки Фуллером. Также, давно существует онлайн-сервис сразу высчитывающий типовые формы куполов по заданному радиусу основания и сложности конструкции. Я по формулам ничего не считал, а лишь воспользовался этим сервисом, отталкиваясь от купола формы 2V с радиусом 3.51 метра. В результате, программа быстро подсчитала все необходимые параметры конструкции:

2V диаметр купола - 7.02
Количество балок A - 35, их длина - 2.169
Количество балок B - 30, их длина - 1.918
Количество 4-направленных соединителей - 10
Количество 5-направленных соединителей - 6
Количество 6-направленных соединителей - 10
Примерная высота - 3.74
Примерная длина окружности основания - 22.04

Там же сразу можно посмотреть принцип сбора конструкции:

Далее, необходимо определиться с материалом будущей конструкции. Учитывая то, что я захотел собрать сборно-разборную конструкцию, которую можно было бы перевезти на грузовом автомобиле, то я выбрал стальные трубы с внешним диаметром 14мм:

Приобрел уцененные трубы на местной строительной базе, порезал их и покрасил антикоррозийной краской. Далее надо было определиться с соединительными элементами. Вообще, существует много способов соединения балок в геодезических куполах. Я решил использовать метод, в котором не потребуются никакие дополнительные инструменты для сборки/разборки, поэтому решил сварить соединители из труб с внутренним диаметром 15мм:

Угол между креплений у 2V-куполов относительно плоскости: у балок A - 18º и B - 16º относительно центра соединения. Для того, чтобы выдержать необходимые углы, были сварены специальные формы из стального уголка. Первым делом сварил 10 4-направленных соединителей:

Далее, приступая к свариванию более сложных 5- и 6-направленных коннекторов стал предварительно заострять концы, подвергаемые сцеплению:

Когда все соединители были сварены, приступил к процессу сборки:

По мере тестовой сборки были выявлены ненадежные соединители, которые там же были заварены значительно крепче:

Учитывая прочность и гибкость 2-метровых стальных труб, во всей конструкции допускалась значительная погрешность, которая по мере тестовой сборки постепенно выправлялась кувалдой:

Затем стоял вопрос того, чем накрывать конструкцию. Добрый человек не просто дал материал для тента (рекламная баннерная ткань высотой 3 метра рулон), но и нанес на него, выбранный мною рисунок. Я решил не делать разрезов и склеек, а использовать 23-метровый рулон для бокового укрытия и кусок 6х6 метров для шапки сверху. Для этого склеил два куска 6х3 метра космофеном:

Докупил веревок для креплений и поставил купол на земле:

Итого я потратил финансов:

Труба 14мм внешнего диаметра 69шт по 2.5м - 6380p
Труба 15мм внутр 20м - 924р
Антикоррозийный лак - 3х200р
Веревки - 300р
Упаковка электродов - 450р

Но в результате научился варить металл (до этого никогда в руках не держал сварочного аппарата) и собрал удобное и комфортное летнее жилье для себя, семьи и друзей.

Конечно, у меня бы всё еще затянулось на несколько месяцев без помощи хороших людей, которые помогали советом, материалом и инструментом. За что им всем большое спасибо и отдельно: Piotr за базовую информацию, добрососеду дяде Саше за инструменты, помещение для сборки и советы и Phase_Shift за тент и печать рисунка.

Кстати, я не случайно выбрал размер 3.51м радиуса основания, так как учитывая гибкость таких стальных труб, можно будет в будущем расширить имеющийся 2V купол до 11-метрового 3V просто добавив еще элементов:

3V 3/8 окружности диаметр основания - 11
Примерная длина окружности основания - 35
Количество балок A - 30, их длина - 1.917
Количество балок B - 40, их длина - 2.219

Количество 6-направленных соединителей - 25
