For the last couple of years I have been using KDE Desktop Environment, but have had various issues that were pesky more than anything.
In reading an article, I recently found out that Unity has continued development thanks to open-source and volunteers.
sudo apt install unity-desktop and I am back to Unity, which works for me. I know that some people are not fans of Ubuntu or Unity, but in my opinion it is very intuitive and pleasant to use.
