The channel that originally created that post appears to have been deleted. There are other unrelated issues involved but that one kind of seals its fate.

There's no issue with misty.casa to my knowledge. It's just an intermediary that got caught up in a messy situation.

Nomadic Identities should be resilient to such situations, right?

Third party content isn't nomadic. It could be - the code has been there for years, but we'd have to break with the fediverse in a potentially irreversible way. I chose not to do that.

nomadic identities and deleted identities have not much in common.
If a remote identity is not already present at your server, we need to fetch it. Can't fetch a deleted identity though - hence the import fails.

If the primary channel was not dead, would the feature be available?

You could fecth the cloned identity.
The point of #
NomadicIdentities
is to allow content to survive even if primary is dead (for instance, in order to resist censorship or purchase by private corporations). If Mike is right, that means that the main feature of #
NomadicIdeintity
is broken... Bad news...

Yes, I know. There are a range of issues here. The first is that navbar searches for ActivityStreams content require an ActivityStreams (machine readable) URL, not a local link (web readable but NOT machine readable). Using a local link to search for the content isn't currently supported in Hubzilla. Full stop.
Once you work through that issue, there are some anomalies with this channel which make it no longer nomadic, although it has a primary location set to a dead channel. So it's claiming to be nomadic but it isn't really because only one clone actually exists and it's not the primary. I'm currently trying to determine exactly how this happened because we have mechanisms to repair this situation and these mechanisms weren't triggered because the account deletion on misty.omtc.fr didn't send notifications and according to webfinger it wasn't deleted (which typically responds with 400 in that case). It is found but nothing is there (responds 200 but with no content). So the primary channel location wasn't automatically repaired as a result of this quirk. To fix it I need to figure out what precisely happened on this clone and instead I'm spending my time responding to trolls and toxicity and the endless "hire a UI person". You hire a bloody UI person. Make sure you pay them well.
Anyway I'm still working through the issues presented and it can be fixed, but it's going to take some time due to all the complications and the fact that i can't see the databases of every site involved. Chillax. Nobody lost their identity and nobody lost their content. That doesn't mean that you can find that content by fetching it from a specific server using a specific URL. It now exists on a different server with a different URL. And ranfaroth still has an identity and still has their content. So the system works. Nomadic identity works. What doesn't work is trying to predict all the things that go wrong in the universe, because some really weird shit happens sometimes. I'll leave it at that until I've got a patch.

And I've got a patch. So even if your channel gets deleted in some weird non-standard way and doesn't tell anybody we should be able to fix your primary location if it's pointing at the dead one.

Is it a patch for #

only or does it apply to #

too?

Does that bug affect #
Hubzilla
too? Do you think you could cherry pick Mike's fix?

It currently affects 1 or 2 people a decade - and they can also fix it themselves. I'm just fixing it anyway because they probably wont.

The more users, the more time, the more people affected. Think long term.
